MIL-W-5086/2

Insulating Material: Nylon or PVC

Insulation Thickness: Construction Details

Wire Properties

Voltage Rating: 600

Temperature Rating: 105 C

Conductor Type: No data available

Construction Details: For MIL-W-5086/1, /2, and /7 the insulation diameter increases with the gauge size. For example, for AWG 22 to AWG 04 with MIL-W-5086/2 the insulation thickness increases from about 0.045 mils (0.35 mm) to 0.14 mils (3.5 mm), respectively. The same trend is found with MIL-W-5086/1 and MIL-W-5086/7 for AWG 22 to AWG 10, 0.03 mils (0.8 mm)to 0.05 mils (1.3 mm), respectively. For sizes larger than AWG 8 with MIL-W-5086/2, a nylon braid to placed on the outer layer.

Additional Information: This specification is currently being handled by the SAE under the specification SAE-AS5086/2.
